About the talk
Ulrike Malmendier will address the impact of CEO social preferences on firms’ labor adjustment. Managerial preferences arising through social interactions are an economically important factor regarding the number of layoffs during the CEO’s tenure. In this context, the influence on the manager’s accelerated long-run mortality is also addressed.
About the speaker
Ulrike Malmendier is a member of the German Council of Economic Experts and a professor at the University of California in Berkeley. She studied economics and law at the University of Bonn, where she also completed her doctorate in law. Since 2024, Ulrike Malmendier is also ECONtribute Research Fellow at our Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute.
